Recruitment, South West

BRIEF: Amber Resourcing are a rapidly growing recruitment firm with high aspirations and big dreams. And they wanted a space that would match those dreams and attract new talent. Typically consisting of a young and vibrant demographic ,made up of mainly graduates between 20-24yrs old, they are very social and like to work hard, play hard. They wanted a buzzy environment with some attitude and an identity where staff would feed off the energy and vibe. It couldn’t be seen as corporate, and it needed to be something you wouldn’t expect to see in a workplace. Plus the views are one of the best in town and needed to be celebrated.

The floor is split into three distinct areas. On arrival, the first space you see is the boardroom which is located at the heart of the floorplate. Illuminated wayfinding takes you either left to the “WORK” area, or right to the “PLAY” area. The “WORK” area is made up of banks of desks with opportunities for alternative worksettings located around the perimeter, away from the buzz. Window seats line the walls and rattan chairs hang in the windows to allow staff to take phone calls or have some quiet thinking time away from the desk, drinking in the views of Bristol and the hills beyond. This allows for moments of calm which has a direct affect on mental health. The “PLAY” side of the building is very much that. We provided a large kitchen/bar area, equipped with a beer font, large drinks fridge, pool tables, ping pong table and plenty of seating for socialising to cross over from a daytime to nighttime vibe. The feature of the space is an 85” digital screen which is not only linked to the Manchester office for town-hall style meetings, but is also connected to a PlayStation for immersive gaming. The vibe is very much playful here, a social space where staff and visitors can relax and is essentially a million miles away from the “WORK” area.

To create the warehouse aesthetic, we worked with the existing exposed services and introduced a brick effect wall finish to the entire core area. The palette is neutral but punctuated with brand colours in small doses. It is the highlight colour that draws you down through the space, acting as a focal point and reinforcing the brand.
